Ultimate Coffee Date #21

Hi Everyone, and welcome to another coffee date.

If this is your first, pull up a chair, grab a drink, and let’s catch up.

February was a short month and marks the end of summer for us folks down under.

RunMum Bellarine

If we were sitting down for coffee, I would tell you that I had my first race for the year with the Bellarine Sunset Run, on Valentine’s day weekend.
I was aiming for a PB at this event, but the heat told me no, not going to happen.

If we were sitting down for coffee, I would tell you I’m doubting if I will ever get a new PB for the 10km distance.  I feel like I’m not getting any faster, at any distance.

If we were sitting down for coffee, I would tell you that I’m pretty sure putting on ‘summer’ weight hasn’t helped me get faster. This is why I’ve decided to do another 21-day sugar detox.

Why a sugar detox and not a whole30?  Well, I know sugar has become a huge problem. And with Easter coming up, it’s a perfect time to suck it up and say no to that sugar demon.

If we were sitting down for coffee, I would tell you February was not really a month for running.  I covered only 89km, which has been my lowest for that month since 2013 (when I only covered 71km).  Last year saw me covering 120km, and 2014 saw me covering 95.

So what happened? Well, work and weather played a huge factor.

If we were sitting down for coffee, I would tell you that I’ve had to transition 50% of my runs to night runs for the following reasons:

I would run in the early morning, but because of work, I would get little to no sleep, and I need sleep.

To be honest, I haven’t minded running at night, you notice things you wouldn’t really see during the day.  It’s a nice change.

The total km tally for the year is: 111km

If we were sitting down for coffee, I would tell you that the kids have absolutely loved geocaching.

I got some stickers made up so we can up that in the geocache notebooks when we find them.

Hopefully later this month we will have planted our first cache.  Exciting!

If you were sitting down for coffee what would you tell me?

  1. I was talking to a lady a few years ago on a bus while in route to the start of the race and she was telling me her days of PB are over and she was losing her desire to push herself. I turned to her, and I told her we will all hit that point one day, and that just means instead of pushing for a PB, it’s time to start ranking and winning in age categories instead. She laughed at that!
So if you think your PB days are behind you, start aiming for age placements (I think they do that in Australila too, right?)
My niece and I were just talking about getting back into geocaching as soon as the snow melts here, still got a few months of it but when it’s gone it’s such a fun thing to do we are looking forward to it!
