The current IAAF world record for the men’s marathon is 2:02:57, set by Dennis Kimetto of Kenya on September 28, 2014, at the Berlin Marathon.
Since then there has been talk of when (not if) a sub 2-hour marathon would happen.
Nike saw that potential and chose 3 athletes to make it happen. Those athletes were;
- Lelisa Desisa of Ethiopia,
- Eliud Kipchoge of Kenya,
- Zersenay Tadese
On May 6th, 2017, on a Grand Prix track in Italy, the attempt was made.
Lelisa Desisa ran 42.2km in 2:00:24.
While he didn’t break 2 hours, the possibility of it now happening will only be a matter of time.
I tell you this because if we set limits, we only limit the possibility of what could happen.
Whether you can or can’t, you are correct.
On that note, I encourage you to watch this 5-minute “death crawl” scene from Facing the Giants.
What limits have you placed on yourself today?
What will you do to change that?
