Every week (sometimes fortnightly), I write down a list of at least 10 goals that I want to achieve. Sure each week I might have 6-7 goals that are the same as the week before but either way I write them down.
When the goal gets achieved, it comes off the list, but it gets replaced with something new.
The goals I set will be a combination of long-term, mid-term and short-term goals. I always write them as I have already achieved them.
Last year I set a goal to run 1000km in 2013. This week that goal was accomplished.
If you want to run 1000km in a year, the breakdown is something like this.
I still plan on running for the rest of the year. By Mid December I will have a fair idea of my total distance for the year. As I haven’t decided what my distance running goal will be for 2014.
Either way it feels fantastic to have a goal like this finished.
How far have you ran this year?
Are you going to have a distance goal for 2014?
Fav race for 2013?
1696 miles (2729.4K). I don’t have a mileage goal. 10 1/2 marathons, 2 full marathons, run across my state 60 miles in 2 days (98K) and the Ragnar relay 119 miles in two days. (191K)
David that’s still SERIOUSLY impressive. You’ve doubled what I run. Like Wow.
Congratulations on reaching your goal! I didn’t set a milage goal this year or keep very good track of the miles I ran, I need to do better next year. Favorite race this year was probably the Nike Women’s Half in San Francisco.
