You may remember me mentioning the playlist that I had organised for RunMelbourne
I only ended up listening to a few songs on the playlist before I turned it off. It’s not that I didn’t like the music, because I had some great tunes on there. I just felt like I didn’t need it. It’s also nice to not rely on music and to just be in tuned with the run.
That being said, I love discovering new music. So I thought I would share my playlist – that wasn’t, as it may inspire you to go out there and crush it.

We Didn’t Start the Fire – Billy Joel
On The Pop of July – RockMyRun
Classic – MKTO
R.E.V.O. – Walk Off the Earth
Pompeii – Bastille
Story – Sam Tsui
Change Your Life – Little Mix
Die Young – Ke$ha
One Way or Another (Teenage Kicks) – One Direction
My Songs Know What You Did In the Dark (Light Em Up) – Fall Out Boy
Still Into You – Paramore
Amnesia – Ian Carey & Rosette Feat Timbaland & Brasco
Release Me – Agnes
This Is What It Feels Like (Radio Edit) – Armin van Buuren [feat. Trevor Guthrie]
Turn Up the Love (feat Cover Drive) – Far East Movement
Levels – Avicii
I Could Be The One (Nicktim) – Avicii vs Nicky Romero
The Party Next Door – Avicii Ft. Taio Cruz
Iron ( With Nicky Romero ) – Calvin Harris
Big Banana (feat. R3hab & Prophet) – Havana Brown
Unstoppable – Toby Mac
Can’t Hold Us – Macklemore & Ryan Lewis Featuring Ray Dalton
Thank You – MKTO
Right In (Original Mix) – Skrillex
I should also mention that the RockMyRun mix is 30mins long. So this playlist goes for about 1h55mins. If you drop the RockMyRun mix then it’s about 1h30ish.
I would also like to note that this post is also in association with The Active Mum – Active life Link up.
Do you listen to music when you workout?
What’s your fav song at the moment?
What song gets you motivated to do more?
Feel free to answer all or answer one.
I listen to music on my long runs, but I have been easing out of it. More by accident, my iPod wasn’t charged one day, and I just haven’t charged it. Right now, I really like “On Top of the World” by Imagine Dragons. I listen to it all the time.
Ooh I love this song, but for whatever reason I still haven’t put it on my ipod yet.
Hi Matilda!! Thanks for linking up today!!
I used to absolutely love to listen to music when I worked out.. although these days, with toddlers, I actually just love the peace and quiet when I run! 😉 Though, I think if I was doing some of the distances you are running I would be making up a playlist too!
Have a wonderful day!
Aanie x
You are most Welcome Aanie.
I must say on my shorter runs, I will listen to music. On my long runs, audio books, and when I do my club runs, nothing. In a social running situation I actually prefer not to have the ipod, not too sure when that happened but I don’t mind. One less thing to stress about.
I love listening to music when I run. But not when I am in a race. Occasionally if I am in the mountains I pass up on the music too:)
I love that several of the songs you picked are on my own playlist:)
Man I have too many favorites right now. Oddly I am going through this fast country music kick lately, so I’d say a few country songs are going to be getting added to my playlist shortly:)
Thanks for sharing, I may just copy a few of these and add them to my own:)
Kristy go right ahead, that was the entire intention of this post.
Today I ran with my phone (i was doing speedwork, and had to keep my phone with me cause I thought i might get a call to pick up a sick child – which btw didn’t happen). And there were songs on there that I hadn’t listened to in like forever. It was a nice change.
I’m really into Gloriana at the moment, so I think one of their songs will make may next playlist.
