It’s hard to believe that it has been a year since I last did a Day in the Life post.
Too long, I say. So I’m going to make sure I do a few of them during this year.
This time around I’m going to do a Day in the Life of a holiday.
Let’s begin, with the last day of our Warrnambool adventure.
The day begins with a run.
I met up with a fellow RMA Kylie, and we ran 7km along the beach in Warrnambool.
It was a pretty crusie-y run for me, and more of a tempo run for Kylie. Was lovely to meet up with another RMAer and have company. The time flew by.
Once we got back to the hotel, it was time to pack up.
Yep, we adults do all the work, while the kids take it easy and watch tv.
Saying that though, I remember doing the same. Was easier to be out of the way, than ‘try’ to help.
Our first pit stop was to head down to Hopkins River, as we hadn’t explored that part of Warrnambool (besides me on my run).
We then drove back into the centre of town to get coffee.
Because if Tommy doesn’t get coffee, he gets angry.
Tom had been getting his coffee here for the last few days.
We discovered it on our first day while walking around the town centre.
They do decent coffee, so if you are in Warrnambool, do check them out. The cafe is called Graze and is an urban delicatessen and cafe.
Our next destination was Tower Hill, an extinct volcano.
We didn’t stay for long, as it was getting warm, and Miles was starting to get grumpy.
First, however, we chose to do a short walk – the boardwalk.
Heading back to the car park we spotted a koala in one of the trees. He of course was fast asleep. I don’t blame him.
Ok, so this isn’t the best of photos, but it was a big tree, and he was little.
From Tower Hill, we made our way to Port Fairy for lunch.
We enjoyed a lovely lunch from one of the local bakeries along the pier.
Approximately 10 minutes from Port Fairy, is Yambuk.
Unless you have been to Yambuk before there is no reason you would actually go.
But if you have kids, do make a pit stop. As there is a giant slide and a great fishing beach.
Our last pit stop was at Mt Eccles National Park. To visit another volcano.
We just went to the lookout. There are a variety of walks, but the kids were getting tired.
Tom and I will come back to visit when we don’t have the kids with us.
So that ends my Day in the Life.
It was a busy day, and we were all utterly exhausted by the time we got home.
Beautiful part of the world, and one of the reasons I like to run after work along the water front, rather than when I get home!
