Mindful Monday: Hard Reset

There are days when I wish I could ctrl+alt+delete my day, week or month. A reset, a clean start, a do-over.

What if I told you that it is possible to give yourself a hard reset?

It’s normal to feel lost at the start of a new year. The last few years have been hard. With COVID, lockdowns, and weather events, we are either feeling overwhelmed, underwhelmed, unmotivated or lost.

Life doesn’t have to feel that way.

If you do feel like you are in a hole that you can’t get out of, please contact your local doctor for a mental health check. Medication and therapy may be what you need.

Remember you matter.

Five things you can do to reset your life

1. Add Water

Either go drink a glass of water or have a shower or bath. Even just the simple act of washing your hands.

Adding water is a wonderful way of refreshing you

2. Clean your face

If you don’t have a regular skin routine, now is the time to start.

There is nothing better than cleaning a dirty face.

If you are like me and have sensitive skin, spend the money (you are worth it), on a facial with a local beautician. They will be able to assess your skin and give you recommendations on what products are best suited for you.

3. Get outside

This could be going for a walk with a friend.

Having your cup of coffee on the front porch.

Or simply just wandering around in your garden.

It’s a proven fact that spending time outside can lower blood pressure, reduce stress but also improve your mood.

If you follow Gretchen Rubin, then you should know that this year’s 23 in 2023 is spending 23 minutes outside every day. Go here to read more: Join the Go Outside 23 in 2023 challenge.

4. Journal

Get your thoughts, dreams, aspirations, and worries out on paper.

By simply writing down your thoughts, feelings worries and stresses, you will be able to understand them more clearly.

When you put pen to paper, it helps you to connect more clearly to your goals, values and your emotions.

5. Get creative, go play

When was the last time you did something for fun?

Ask yourself what you did as a kid that you loved that brought you joy.

Go do that, get creative, have fun and bring back the joy in your life.
