Book Review: They Both Die at the End

By Adam Silvera

Paperback: 368 pages
Genre: Modern Sci-fi
Rating: 4 stars

Now you may be thinking “Sci-fi? Really?”.

It’s not set in outer space, but in a world very similar to our own, with Facebook and Instagram.

In this world, however, there is a company called Death-Cast.

If you receive a call from them, you only have 25 hours left to live.

Set in New York, Mateo and Rufus both receive a call from Death-Cast a little past midnight.

They have 24 hours or less before they will die.

How do you live your life knowing that today is going to be your last day?

Finding each other on an app called Last Friend, designed for Deckers (people living their last day), Mateo and Rufus find each other and live their last day out together.

This is such a beautiful bittersweet book. It’s about friendship, self-discovery, and love.

It will make you rethink how you live your days.
