Same Track Different Person

I tend to run a lot of the same tracks.  I mean don’t we all?

But I never really took notice of how I was progressing on these tracks until recently.

Facebook has this feature where you can see what you did on this day xx years ago.

While looking through it I came across this post from 5th April 2012.

Run 5 Apr 2012

I had to look at it for a few minutes to really digest what I was looking at.

It was this post that made me realise how far I have actually come with my running.

I decided to run this same track again just so I could compare them.

Run 20 Apr 2016

In just 4 years of running.  I have cut down my time on this run from 1h08m to 49:52.

That’s nearly 20 minutes!

This isn’t even the fastest I have run on this track.

I’ve come a long way in just 4 years of running consistently.

I’m definitely not the same person.

I’m stronger, and faster, I can run further.

I’m a trail runner.

But most importantly I run because I love to do it, and one day I won’t be able to do it anymore.

Today is not that day.

Today’s Mindful Monday post is all about reflection.  How time can change your perception and your perspective.

Always look back, because there is always a lesson to learn.

What have you learned from looking back?
