We all have our favourite smells like we all have our favourite colours.
Just as there are different shades of colours there are different shades or more like scents when it comes to smells.
Some of the best smells in the world are hard to describe, but I’m going to give you 5 of my fav smells.
1. The Earth just after it has rained
Do you know the smell that I’m talking about?
It actually has a name.
When it hasn’t rained for a long time, the earth gives off this scent. It’s like dirt, wet leaves, bark, moist compost, floral, honey & sunshine. There is something magical about this smell that I wish I could bottle up.
2. Baking Bread
There is something about the smell of freshly baked bread that is warming to the soul. Even though I don’t eat as much bread as I used to, I still love the smell of freshly baked bread.
3. Wood Fire
The first time I met Tom he smelt like a wood fire. I later learned that he had a wood fire at home. This would explain why he always smells of wood, fire & ash. This smell is just so warm and comforting. I love it.
4. Newborns
Any parent knows what I’m talking about.
Yep, that’s my kid (Miss K) fresh out of the oven, just minutes old.
5. Roasts
This could be chicken, pork, beef, lamb, goat, I don’t care. If it’s roasting in the oven/grill/slow cooker, the smell is just divine and makes me want to drool.
What’s your fav smell?
Do you have a smell that triggers a memory?
If you had to choose your smell as a colour what would it be?
Wood fire is certainly on my list. That is one fab newborn baby image.
Yeah burning wood smells so good, and with our different woods, they all have different scents.
I love this image of kayla, it’s one of my favs.
These are all definitely on my list. I simply love the smell of rain.
I love the smell of freshly mown grass. And the smell of a newborn too!

Yesterday while out running, it started to rain, and the smell of the freshly cut grass was awesome, so yep, love the grassy smell too.
You have just described my top 5 – as a country girl from NZ – yes to this entire list!!!
Good to know I’m not the only one that loves these smells.

I’ve never understood the whole fascination with the smell of a newborn. But then I guess I’m the sort of person who is terrified of any sort of blank slate – newborns included! Beautiful picture 🙂
Love all these smells! I miss the newborn smell, not too many of my friends are having babies and I think I would creep people out if I went up and asked to smell their babies.
