What I read in 2023

In 2022 I set an ambitious reading goal of 100 books. I was fooling myself if I thought I could pull out another 100 books for the year. Instead, I settled for 52 books, which equates to a book a week, which is completely doable.

In the past, I was the type of person that if I started a book, I needed to finish the book.

There were so many books that I wanted to love, that I forced myself to read, and I regretted it.

This is why if I’m not feeling a book by 50 pages in or 50% in, I give permission to myself to not finish it.

Books that I should have DNF’d but didn’t.

  • Tomorrow, and tomorrow and tomorrow
  • All the Light We Cannot See
  • This is how you lose the time war
  • The Night Circus

I really wanted to like these books, but they just weren’t for me. Just because a book is hyped up, doesn’t mean that you are going to enjoy it, or if it’s to you.

These are the books that I actually DNF’d.

  2. Myke Cole – The Armored Saint (B & DNF)

  4. Thomas Erikson – Surrounded by Idiots (B & DNF)
