A lot can happen in 6 months, so strap on your running shoes and let us chat about how the running has been going.
June was a cracking month and was super busy with;
- Visiting Family
- Parkrun
- Surf Coast Trail Marathon
- Whole Life Challenge
Just to name a few.
We didn’t attend a couple of SAAC events due to the long weekend and then missed another while I was running Surf Coast.
Surf Coast was EPIC, and I loved every minute of it. If you haven’t already read my recap on it, do so here.
The kid’s one and only event for June was the Telstra Shop handicap.
It was a pea souper with fog as thick as thick.
This didn’t stop them from giving it a go.
Kayla ran a solid race and came in 3rd place with a time of 5:00 on the dot.
Miles, well he does his own thing.
I don’t think he ran his best on this day due to the conditions. When he finished he was quite wheezy.
The weather did clear up for the senior’s run, a distance of 6.5km.
Things I’ve learned from Running
Don’t go too hard at the start.
It’s hard I know, but you can’t keep that pace, then you feel like you are dying at the end.
There is no denying I was hurting during the Telstra Shop handicap.
This particular course is a there and back track, and it’s flat, so it’s fast.
After the first k, I knew I went too hard, by km 4, there was a slight headwind, and then I got a stitch, it all unravelled from there.
Being a flat course it meant that you could see everyone in front of you. This made this run more mental than actual physical.
So don’t be cocky go slow at the start.
