Happy Half-Year, everyone! Can you believe we’re already at the halfway point of 2025? For me, this milestone is extra special as it coincides with my sister’s birthday – a perfect excuse to pause, reflect, and see how far we’ve come since setting those ambitious goals at the start of the year.
Remember all those grand plans and resolutions? Well, it’s time to pull out that list and see what’s been brewing!
Get Moving: Pushing the Limits
My big, audacious running goal for 2025 was to clock 100km in a month and 1,000km in the year. It’s still a work in progress, but I’m incredibly proud to say I hit 100km in April! That’s a huge win for me, as it’s been a long time since I’ve reached that kind of mileage. This brings my year-to-date total to 515km.
Trail running was also on the agenda, but the Gold Rush event I was eyeing unfortunately got cancelled. No worries though, Mt Macedon is still firmly on the horizon! I’m not dismissing trail events at all; I just want to find one that truly “sparks joy.” The hunt continues!
As for “Hike New Heights,” we technically explored the Pyrenees’ State Forest by car – does that count? Maybe not quite the same, but it was beautiful! However, for my birthday, we did head down to the magnificent Otways, and a definite highlight was exploring the magical Redwood Forest. Such an incredible experience.

And yes, you can still find me at the gym! While there haven’t been any new personal bests yet, it’s all a work in progress. Consistency is key!
Feed Your Mind: A Literary Journey
One of my favourite goals this year was to read 40 books: 10 audiobooks, 10 Kobo, and 10 physical copies. So far, my reading list looks like this:
- Ministry of Time (E)
- Love and Other Flight Delays (B)
- Somewhere Beyond the Sea (B)
- Apples Never Fall (A)
- Sword Catcher (B)
- We All Live Here (A)
- Iron Flame (A)
- The Right Place (B)
- Love Story (A)
- What Does It Feel Like (B)
- Can’t Fix Cupid (E)
- The Reader on 6.27 (B)
- Fourth Wing (A)
- Forever, Interrupted (E)
- Unfortunately Yours (E)
- Beard in Hiding (E)
- The Wrong Sister (A)
- Here One Moment (A)
(E = Ebook, B = Physical Book, A = Audiobook)
That breaks down to 5 Ebooks, 6 Physical Books (4 of which were library finds!), and a fantastic 7 Audiobooks. I’m making good progress on this front, and discovering some brilliant reads along the way!
On the musical front, I’m currently in the month of November for my last played 2020 playlist and mid-January for my 2021 playlist. Catching up on those tunes!
Create and Capture: Bringing Ideas to Life
This is where I’ve seen some fantastic tangible results! The photobooks from 2021 and the progress of our house build are officially complete and have been admired by many (including myself!). It feels great to have those memories captured.
While I’ve definitely tried some new recipes this year, I’m still yet to master wontons or recreate Mum’s famous flan. Those are definitely still on the to-do list for the second half of the year!
And those artworks I’ve been working on? They are finally completed! I’ll be picking them up from the framers in the next few days – can’t wait to see them hung up!
Finding My Zen: Moments of Calm
Camping adventures haven’t quite happened yet, but Tom and I did have a wonderful weekend getaway to the Otways for my birthday, just us. It was a perfect little escape and definitely hit that “zen” requirement. Sometimes, a quiet retreat is exactly what’s needed.
And finally, a small but mighty win: I finally found replacement casual shoes! It’s the little things, right?
Looking Ahead
It’s been a really interesting and rewarding first half of 2025. Some goals are powering ahead, some need a little nudge, and others have shifted – and that’s perfectly okay! The beauty of these check-ins is seeing what’s working, what’s not, and adjusting course as needed.
How about you? Have you checked in on your 2025 goals? What’s been your biggest win so far? I’d love to hear about your progress in the comments below!
