A Year Later and Tessa Bailey Delivers (Finally!)

Okay, confession time: it’s been a minute. Like, a full year minute. My book-reviewing muscles have been seriously neglected. But after a disappointing first read of 2024, I knew I needed a sure thing. Enter Tessa Bailey.

“Unfortunately Yours,” the second instalment in the Vines series, was exactly what my reading slump needed. And honestly? It blew Book One out of the water. Let’s just say, that my faith in the Vines series has been restored.

This time around, we follow Natalie and August, two people who can’t stand each other… or so they think. They find themselves in a marriage of convenience, which, as we all know, is a recipe for delicious chaos. But what sets this book apart is the genuine connection between Natalie and August. They get each other, even when they’re pretending they don’t.

Tessa Bailey knows how to write characters that jump off the page. Natalie is sharp, witty, and refreshingly real. August, despite his initial grumpy exterior, is surprisingly vulnerable. Their banter is electric, and their chemistry is off the charts. It’s the kind of back-and-forth that makes you laugh out loud and maybe even blush a little.

What I loved most about “Unfortunately Yours” was the personal growth both characters experienced. It’s not just about the romance; it’s about them confronting their insecurities and learning to trust each other. And of course, Bailey delivers on the happily ever after, leaving you with that warm, fuzzy feeling and a grin that won’t quit.

In short:

  • Hot Minute Confession: Yes, it’s been a year, but I’m back!
  • Vines Series Upgrade: “Unfortunately Yours” is a definite improvement over book one.
  • Marriage of Convenience Magic: Natalie and August’s story is a perfect blend of hate-to-love goodness.
  • Banter and Growth: Expect sharp wit, sizzling chemistry, and genuine character development.
  • Happily Ever After Bliss: Prepare for a smile that lingers long after you finish the last page.

If you’re looking for a steamy, funny, and heartwarming romance that ticks all the boxes, “Unfortunately Yours” is a must-read. It’s the perfect antidote to a reading slump and a reminder of why I love Tessa Bailey’s books.

Welcome back to book reviewing, me! And thank you, Tessa Bailey, for reminding me why I love this genre.
