It’s only been in the last few years that I have made the decision to adopt a focus word for the year.
Deciding on a word can be challenging.
A single word however can be a powerful motivational tool.
In 2015 my chosen word was “commit”. I picked that particular word as I wanted to finish what I started.
When December rolled around, I had a thought about what my word was going to be, when gracefully “Mindful” came to my mind.
So why this word? Well, let’s take a look at its meaning.
Mindful
adjective
- attentive, aware, or careful (usually followed by of):
mindful of one’s responsibilities.
- noting or relating to the psychological technique of mindfulness: mindful observation of one’s experiences.
Being mindful means waking up and living the life I have.
It means listening, to myself, to my body, to my family, and to others.
I believe that if I apply this word to my life in 2016 I will find a better balance with my family, myself, friends, fitness and work life.
What is your focus word for 2016?
