A Treat

First things first, I want to talk about what happened over in Boston.

The Boston Marathon is an elite event (you have to qualify in time) and has been running for many many years.

These runners have put in hours of hard training. The event should be one of joy and celebration, instead it ends in tragedy with lives lost, and many injured.

As a runner this just breaks my heart.  I mean seriously who does this sort of thing?  These people are doing something that they love – running.  So today I’m going to be wearing a race t-shirt in honour of all those that were injured or hurt, and to the families that lost love ones.

My kids will also get an extra hug and kiss, and I will tell them how much I love them.  You should do the same.

Also go treat yourself.  Life is too short not to.  Treats are different for everyone.  See I don’t smoke. I also don’t drink – alcohol that is. Ok sometimes, but very very rarely. Like I’m talking only a handful of times in a year. And if I do, it’s like a glass, so not much at all. I eat healthy, I look after myself and my family.  So I like to treat myself and make myself feel special. I mean I’ve earned it right? Hell yeah!

So after a big event I like to treat myself  to a beauty treatment.

This time around it was a pedicure.

Treated myself to a pedicure. I think my feet deserve it after all the #running I’ve done. twitter.com/MatildaIglesia…

My feet feel great, and I have pretty toes. And what girl doesn’t like pretty toes?!

So my pretty toes go out for those out in Boston.

Stay safe, whether it’s your next run or not. Life is too short to have hang ups, or to worry about things out of your control. So love yourself, love your family your friends, and remember that it’s ok to treat yourself every once in a while.

  1. Matilda, I could not agree with you more. Treating yourself, no matter how simple or small, is nourishing to your soul, and allows you to be the best version of yourself for those you love.

    Love the color 🙂
