Getting Sick & Taking a Forced Break

It all began on a Wednesday night, with Miles spewing his guts out.

Poor little man got it bad.  His only comfort was to snuggle up with me in bed.

Needless to say, I didn’t have a very good night’s sleep.

He missed out on his Grade 2 sleepover because he just wasn’t well enough to go.

Then by the weekend, Kayla was out for the count.

I was feeling pretty ordinary myself, but I had already made arrangements to run with a friend out in Halls Gap.

When I got there we decided just on 10ish km.  Well, it was the slowest 11k I have ever done.  Took me 1h27.

I felt so out of form the whole run. Of course, it had to rain in the last km, and thus I got freezing cold.

Once I got home and had a hot shower I still felt utterly ordinary, so decided to skip lunch and just head straight to bed.

At least 3 hours later I was woken up by Tom

You need to get up or you won’t sleep tonight.

I was just so tired. When I took my temperature that explained everything.

So the last week has been me recovering from being sick.

Being sick is no fun. It’s been a while since I have been unwell.

The last time I felt like this (if not worse), was when I had my first DNS.

While I would love to be out running and enjoying this great weather, it’s important for me to get some rest.

So that’s where I am right now. Resting.

Oh and for the record, I did end up sleeping after my huge nap, a whopping 12 hours!
