Motivation: 18 for 18 – Progress not Perfection

So I have been sitting here, staring at the screen thinking “What am I going to write about today’s topic”.

I have stared at the screen.

Words have been written.

Words have been deleted.

Waiting for that inspirational story to finally hit me, yet nothing is coming.

Writing blog posts can sometimes come with great ease, other times you really have to work for it.

Today is just one of those blog-writing days.

The idea is there, but trying to find the perfect words to illustrate the point, I’m failing.  Failing badly.

It’s easy to be so focused on the end result, the end goal, the end game.  The fact of the matter is that perfect just doesn’t exist.

When we set a goal, we don’t get to the end result in a straight line.  We will go forward 2 steps, back 3, and then get detoured or sidelined along the way.

The journey to our goals is never the way we imagined.  They are never perfect. Perfection is simply an illusion.

It’s the pauses, the 3 steps back, and the detours along the way that we learn from the most.  It’s those processes that we should focus on, as that’s where the greatest growth comes from.
