2014: Year in Running

2014 has been a year in running, and since it’s the last day of the year (yeah I hear you where did this year go?), I thought it would be a great way to celebrate and reflect back on my year of running.

Now I’ve done reflections on how my running has gone for the year gone by, but this year I’m going to do something just a little bit different.

Thanks to Christine & Amanda for this one.

2014 has been a roller coaster ride when it’s come to my running. I got sick, then I got sick again. I’ve tested the trail waters and LOVED it, set some new PB’s and a lots of fun along the way.

Best Race Experience

Hands down the best race experience I have had this year, without a doubt would be my last event. Tough Mudder Adelaide.

We had great weather, I ran with a fantastic person, the obstacles and course were fantastic, and overall I just had so much fun.

Before you ask, yes I have registered for my 4th event for 2015.

Doing Tough Mudder Melbourne with my mum comes in 2nd place.

Coming in a 3rd would have to be Run From the Hills. What an experience that was.  I felt like I totally redeemed myself after all the drama of Surf Coast Trail Marathon.

Best Run

I honestly had to think about this for a while.  Then it finally clicked.  My best run for the year would have to be Moasic to Mountain.

The weather was wonderful.  The view, well it’s the Grampians, what’s not to love?

We were also supporting a great local cause.

Despise forgetting my watch, overall it was a great event for me.  I ran solid and strong and still got a 10km personal record.

Best New Pieces of Gear

I got quite a few new pieces of running gear, from new shorts, tops, hats, and of course shoes.  What runner is going to go without shoes!?

But my favourite item would be my Salomon Hydration Pack.  It has served me well in keeping me hydrated while out on the trails.

Best Piece of Running Advice you Received

This tired and tested advice has always worked for me.

Because no matter how I’m feeling, or how slow I go.  If I run for an hour, I run for an hour.

Most inspirational runner

You.  Yes you reading this, you inspire me.  You are my inspiration.

  • You who get up at 4 am to get their long run in.

If you could sum up your year in a couple of words, what would they be?

Stronger, faster, adventurous, fun & challenging.
