Whole 30: Oh dear

Oh Dear, isn’t this cute? I found this via Pinterest.

I thought it was fitting for the title of this post. I might warn you to know that this post could be all over the place, cause well that’s what I feel like right now.  All over the place.

This last week of Whole30 has been challenging, as you would be aware from my previous post.  *Shakes fist in the air* Damn you Sugar Dragon.

Well, that hasn’t been the only thing. I woke up sick as sick last night. Sick like I have not felt in a very long time.  Yes, toilet and bucket holding was done in the wee hours of the night.  Damn you food poisoning.  Let’s just say I don’t want to wish that on anyone. It’s awful.

I woke up miserable. So miserable that the lovely light of my life Tom drove all the way in to look after me and get the kids ready for school. There was no way I could have done that without collapsing in a heap. He really is the best.

So today I ended up reading my book (actually I finished it, that happens when you don’t have to do anything, and you can read for like 8 hours), participating in the #HealthyWayMag Chat on Twitter, having a nap, sitting out in the glorious sun soaking up my Vitamin D quota, and bumming around while trying to ignore the headache from hell. Yes, I could take paracetamol, but last night of course I realised I have not had a need to take pain medication while being on Whole30, which just goes to show that eating Paleo is healing in more ways than one. Except for the food poisoning though. Not too sure what was the cause of it, as the kids aren’t sick, but still, yuck.

The only problem with being sick and being Paleo is that my normal ‘go-to foods’ are out.  Dry toast, crackers, and whatnot.  I can’t have those.  I mean I could but I don’t want to risk my poor little gut into overdrive. So it’s been fruit & veggies instead. Which don’t get me wrong are great, but they don’t hit the spot.  I think that’s more of a physiological thing though.

So exercise wise I’m writing the rest of the week off.  I will see how I feel on Saturday for the 5km Club Run.  It’s a flat course, so I was hoping for an awesome PB, but I might not get it now.  Will just have to wait and see.

As for the diet, well it makes sense to stick with Paleo. if anything with my poor gut going through what it’s gone through staying Paleo is most likely the best thing for it and me.

  1. Ugh. That’s the worst. I’m sorry you can’t have the things you’re craving. I hope this passes quickly and you can get back in the game!

    1. I’m feeling so much better today, which reconfirms that it was definitely food poisoning, so I’ve thrown out the food I think caused it. Still going to have the next few days as rest days (no exercise) so my body to can recover fully.
