If you didn’t already know I’m a photographer. So trying to pick an all-time favourite image is just plain hard.
There are many photographers that I love, and there are lots of images that I love.
The image above, of the kids and me is one that I love. It was taken at Beehive Falls back in July 2012.
It’s a favourite of mine because it was taken on Tom & I’s first (family) date. So it holds a lot of great memories.
But there are other images that I love.
I love Max Dupain’s Sunbaker.
I love Olive Cotton’s Teacup.
One of my photography idols whose work I love and would love my work to resemble is Barb Uli and her team over at JinkyArt.

However, this image has to be one of my all-time favourite images. I love this image. It represents my kids to a tea. I love it so much that I have it hanging as a 20×30″ canvas up on my living room wall.
This photo I took back in 2010, on my old point-and-shoot. My beloved DLSR camera at the time was in for repairs. I was doing a 365-day photography challenge, so I had to resort to my little Fujifilm until my DLSR was back in my hands. We still use the Fujifilm, it’s a great little camera, and takes good images.
This image just shows that you don’t need a fancy camera to take a fantastic shot.
What’s your fav image?
Do you have a fav photographer?
I love those pictures! Years ago I took a photography class and we had to make our own camera’s, literally out of a box with a hole in it. The crazy thing, the pictures we took with them (black and white) were amazing. The teacher was proving the point you had mentioned above, that you don’t always need a fancy camera to take a great shot. Lighting and getting the shadow’s right, and just having an eye for it is #1:)
Yes pin hole cameras aren’t they awesome.
When I taught photography at a camp, the kids always got a kick out of the pinhole camera’s.
What a brilliant photo, it sure says a lot about your little ones personality. I just love it x
Thanks, my son still looks up to his big sis, and she is always looking out for him.
I totally agree that some of the best shots are captured when you’re not trying to and on a non-flash camera. Lovely shot!
I didn’t know you were a photographer. I love that you have that on your wall, so many fave photos never make it from the screen these days.
It’s one of the reasons I sell canvas’ because I know from personal experience If I get prints or even a disc of photo’s, where does it go, straight in the draw, and then no one sees it.
A canvas however, bam ready to hang to see. I love my canvas’. I have lots of plans for photo’ walls in the new place, when we eventual build.
Love the shot from your point and shoot camera. (I use point and shoot mode on my DSLR! Just cos you’re learning the guitar doesn’t mean you shouldn’t play a nice one!)
Silhouette shots are so beautiful. I do love photography too – Ansell Adams is my favorite!
Ansell Adams is my fav landscape photographer. His black and white work is phenomenal.
Oh man I now want to hang this photo in my house lol…Seriusly though, it’s a beautiful shot!
Thanks Kels
Cute photos! I keep meaning to go back through my landscapes to choose one for my wall, but I always get distracted by pictures of my kids… I’m betting there’ll be a few more of them up there before I choose a landscape!
Don’t delay it. It’s the best feeling to hang something up on the wall you love.
