Mindful Monday: Boundaries

A farm has a fence or a perimeter around it to keep its livestock in a designated area.

The livestock is free to roam within the confines of the boundary, but when they escape as it can happen, their lives can be in peril.

They may get attacked by a predator, stollen or injured.

Boundaries are there to protect them.

The same applies to us and our minds and our body.

It’s important to place boundaries to

  • keep us safe
  • focus on what is important to us
  • set clear expectations and responsibilities

You get to decide what boundaries you need or want in your life. They could be

  • physical
  • emotional
  • mental
  • time
  • financial
  • non-negotiable

Setting boundaries takes courage and strength, but when you do set them you can feel at peace knowing that the lines have been set and that your needs have been communicated.

Whatever boundaries you set, they are valid and you should never feel guilty over setting them.
